The Juice is Loose in Colorado
Jan 27, 2010- (The views expressed in this blog are the views of Bryan Benway, and may not be the views of the Laredo Bucks organization). Oh Hi Friends. Happy Wednesday to you all. I hope it's going well. The goaltending situation seems to be taken care of for now as the Bucks made a trade today.
Kyle Gajewski was sent to Colorado for future considerations leaving Kevin Desfosses and Pier Pelletier as the Bucks two goaltenders for the time being.
The Gajewski trade was in the works yesterday and became official very early this morning. So early as a matter of fact that juice arrived in Colorado around 8:30am this morning and will suit up tonight when the Eagles host Amarillo. I would not be suprised if Gajewski got the start tonight. We shall see.
He's going to a good situation out there in Colorado and he really took the trade quite well. I'm interested to see how he fits in and plays with the talented Eagles team. When I asked about what goaltender you would keep in yesterday's blog here are some of your e-mails that you sent me.
"From what I've seen so far is that even though Pelletier has lost in several games those games were not really his fault. I think the defense let him down on several of the goals scored against him....not to mention he lost to some very high powered opponents. Gajewski may play excellent one night and then blows it the next night."
"I think you're right Juice will be gone, but I don't think we'll get a trade out of him."
"Tough choice considering Gajewski has more tenure, and we have yet to see more of Pelletier. However, I believe you are right. Pelletier has shown, by far, more confidence in net, and in order to defeat the opponent, you have to trust in your abilities. On the other hand, can we really blame Gajewski for walking on eggshells while on the ice? The poor guy has short of been booed off a game by fans, has had to bear hearing how disappointing his performance was time after time."
"I believe that juice will be gone. I think Rosco has more confidence in Pelletier than juice."
So the consensus is that El Presidente Coach Rosco made a good choice. Let's see how it pans out.
The Bucks practiced a bit longer today than they did yesterday. Yesterday the session lasted a bit over an hour while today's practice was over one-hour and thirty minutes.
The Bucks have a couple of players who have doctors appointments tomorrow to see if they are ready to play Friday night against Texas. We should know tomorrow afternoon whether or not Maxime Lincourt will be in the line-up or not.
Speaking of injuries I saw Evan Schwabe yesterday and he was in very good spirits. He is healing very well and is very anxious to get back on the ice. This is the first time in his career that he has ever been on the IR so it has to be tough on him.
Good news for the Bucks last night as Texas lost at Bossier 4-2. That means that if the Bucks can win here Friday night they will tie Texas for third place in the Southern Conference with two games in hand. So this is a very big game looking at the grand scheme of things.
I was working on the game notes today and I found a very interesting tidbit that i'll share with you now.
Starting this weekend the Bucks will play three games in three nights during each of the next six weekends. In all, from January 29th-March 6th the Bucks will play 19 games in 37 days (10 home, 9 away). How about that? This stretch will make or break the Bucks season. I was chatting with Adam Rivet about that today on our way up to the roof to see Bucky. He believes that it is a tough stretch but it will be a great challenge. Speaking of Bucky on the roof, Jeff Bes and Adam Rivet visited him today for a while. As of 5pm today there were a little over 2,300 tickets left until the game Friday night is sold out. As we all know Laredo is a last-minute town so I fully expect to see that number of tickets remaining to drop big time tomorrow and Friday. Check out the local television stations tonight to hear Bes and Rivet's thoughts on the "Pink in the Rink" game Friday night. Remember the box office is open 24-hours a day until after Friday's game. I received about 90 e-mails with people sending me this video. They want me to show it to the players so I sent it to Rosco. I watched it and I must say I could easily do that (haha, not really. I would die if I tried it). I guess it's an important video if 90 different people sent it to me. Check it out. That's all for today. Please buy your tickets for Friday's game as soon as you can. I may not be able to check in tomorrow because i'm pretty busy. I will definately blog before Friday's game. Thanks for reading and have a good night. Until next time, It will be a hot one in the old town tonight! GO BUCKS GO!
