Pretty In Pink
Jan 29, 2010- (The views expressed in this blog are the views of Bryan Benway, and may not be the views of the Laredo Bucks organization). Oh Hi Friends. Good day to everyone out there in blog land. "Pink in the Rink" has arrived and the building is a buzz with excitement about the big game tonight between the Bucks and Brahmas.
I don't think i'm telling anyone anything that they already do not know but tonight's game against Texas is a big one. It's a four-point swing night. If the Bucks beat the Brahmas in regulation the two teams are tied for third with Laredo having two games in hand, but if the Brahmas win in regulation the Bucks are four points back of third place. Once you look at it in writing you see actually how big the game really is.
The Bucks are rested and ready to go tonight. They had three very good days of practice and will have Maxime Lincourt back in the line-up for the first time since December 27th against Tulsa. Lincourt missed 11 games with an upper body injury. He will be a big addition to this line-up. He brings speed, the ability to score, as well as make a nice pass or a big play. I'm interested to see how he comes out tonight and plays. He certainly should be well rested.
Kevin Desfosses will get another strong test in net tonight as he faced the defending CHL champions. Desfosses really loves to pump the crowd up when he plays so don't be suprised if he raises his hands or arms in the air several times tonight to get the crowd going. I really am excited to see how he plays in front of a big home crowd. If he wins tonight Desfosses will be 4-1 since joining Laredo on January 14th.
As you can see from the picture here there are 12 pink ribbons on the ice for this weekend's games. I saw the Bucks pink jerseys this morning and I really think you will like them. They have more pink and less black than last seasons sweaters.
Tonight is going to be a memorable night and we are hoping for a sellout. With such a big game standings wise and $10,000 looming in the air it's one of the best nights of the season to come out. Please come out and support the cause.
I will have two on-air guests tonight during the broadcast. In the first intermission i'll be joined by Jessica Guajardo of WINGS and Bucks Majority Owner Glenn Hart will come on during the second intermission. It's always great to talk with Glenn and I know he will be very proud of the charity gift tonight to WINGS.
I'll have much, much more on all of that tonight and tomorrow here on the blog.
Here's a couple of random notes.
Paul Elliott's game-winning goal in Rapid City was his first game-winning goal since November 30, 2007 when the Bucks won in Rio Grande Valley 2-1.
Darryl Smith has 11 points in his last five games (8-3=11) while Jeff Bes has nine points in his last five games (1-8=9).
In the Bucks last five games no other player besides Smith and Bes have more than three points.
That's all for right now. I need to prepare for the broadcast. I'll have much more tomorrow.
Enjoy the game tonight!
Until next time,
It will be a hot one in the old town tonight!
GO BUCKS GO!
