Viva La France! Dieude-Fauvel Leads Bucks To Win
Feb. 5, 2010- HIDALGO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees 3-2 in a shootout Friday night at the State Farm Arena. The Bucks improve to 20-15-8 (48 points) and remain in fourth place in the Southern Conference thanks to Texas’ win over Corpus Christi.
Frenchman Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel picked up his first hat trick in North America as he scored two third period goals and the game-winner in the shootout to lead the Bucks to the win.
Pier Pelletier won his first game in a Bucks jersey as he set aside 28 of 30 shots in the contest as Laredo snapped their three-game winless streak.
The Killer Bees (19-18-7) got out of the gates quickly as they scored two goals in the first 1:53 of the game to take a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Jesse Bennefield put Rio up 1-0 just 1:15 into the first period when he scored from the top of the right circle. It was Bennefields team-leading 23rd goal of the season.
The Bees made it 2-0 just 48 seconds later when Aaron Lee intercepted an errant Bucks pass and then scored from the bottom of the left circle. The tally was Lee’s 14 of the campaign.
Laredo outshot Rio 9-8 in the first period.
Neither team was able to score in the second period giving the Killer Bees a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes.
With less than two minutes left in the second period Pier Pelletier stopped two breakaway attempts by the Bees just 10 seconds apart to keep the Bucks down by two.

Dieude-Fauvel cut the Bees lead to 2-1 when he scored from the right circle 8:07 into the third period.
Laredo would tie the game with 5:41 left in the third period when Dieude-Fauvel scored a short-handed goal on a two-on-one break from the slot.
Neither team scored in overtime as the Bucks and Bees went to a shootout for the fifth time in eight meetings this season.
Andy Franck stopped 35 of 37 shots to suffer the hard-luck loss for the Bees.
Igor Agarunov missed his third straight game with an upper-body injury.
