Bucks Acquire Two In Trade With Tulsa

June 18, 2009- LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks announced Thursday that they have acquired Cody Hamilton and the rights to Mike Mullen from the Tulsa Oilers, in exchange for Rick Kozak. Both Hamilton and Mullen are expected to sign with the Bucks for the 2009-10 season.

Mullen, who will turn 26 in July, will enter his fourth professional season, including his second in the Central Hockey League. He put up 20 points (5-15=20) in 29 games for the Oilers last season.

Mullen's father Joe is in the Hall of Fame and won three Stanley Cups during his career. Joe Mullen was also the Central Hockey League’s Rookie of the Year in 1979-80.

"We saw Mike play last season and saw his potential to be a very good fit here," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "He comes from a very solid hockey family, and we hope that he can do big things here in Laredo."

The 5’11, 180 pound Mike Mullen spent his first two pro seasons in the ECHL with the Pensecola Ice Pilots and Augusta Lynx.

Prior to playing professional hockey Mullen played collegiately for UMASS-Amherst and New England College, where he put up 79 points in 97 games.

*HAMILTON ENTERS SECOND PRO SEASON*

22-year old Cody Hamilton enters his second pro season, after scoring six points (1-5=6) in 39 games for Tulsa last season.

"We want to get Cody here to play, we think he can be a big asset to us on the ice," Ruskowski said.

Hamilton, 6’2, 200 pounds, played four seasons of junior hockey in the OPJHL for the Markham Waxers, Oakville Blades, and Cobourg Tigers. In 93 junior games Hamilton put up 73 points (12-61=73).

*KOZAK TRADED TO TULSA*

Rick Kozak heads to Tulsa after completing his fourth complete professional season in 2008-09. The 24-year-old put up 44 points (21-32=44) in 43 games with the Bucks. Kozak had just two points in five playoff games for Laredo last season.

From 2006-2009 Kozak has played in 121 Central Hockey League games, scoring 106 points (59-47=106) with the Bucks and the Memphis/Mississippi Riverkings.

The Bucks will start their eighth season in the Gateway City in October, and will host the 2010 CHL All-Star game January 13th. Season tickets start at under $6.50 per game. Call 718-BUCK (2825) to order.

Bucks Season Ticket Holders can now receive a ten percent discount on their season tickets if they reserve their seats for the 2009-10, and 2010-11 campaigns. With the two-year agreement season ticket holders will receive a 10% discount each year, and can spread their payments out over 24 months.
