June 19, 2009- LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks, in conjunction with the Laredo Heat, announced Tuesday that Bucky has been signed by the Heat for Friday night’s (June 19th) match against the Rio Grande Valley Bravos at the TAMIU soccer complex.

"The Heat know how big our rivalry is with Rio Grande Valley, and they thought that Bucky could help them get an edge Friday night against the Bravos," said Bucks President/General Manager and Head Coach Terry Ruskowski. "It should be fun to watch how Bucky and Fuego work together."

"I was impressed by Bucky’s skills when he won the mascot challenge at our first home match this season,"said Heat Head Coach Israel Collazo. "We can’t wait to see him on the field Friday night."

"We are inviting Bucks fans for this very important Premier Development League Match facing our newest and closet rival, the Rio Grande Valley Bravos. Last month, we visited the Valley and had to come back from a 2-0 deficit with one man down to tie the game at three," said Heat General Manager, J.J. Vela. It was a great game to witness and I feel we are in for the same type of match this Friday."

Entering this week the Heat are tied for second place in their division, with a 4-1-3 mark. Laredo sits three points behind first-place Austin.

Vela added, "But what was most impressive from a Visitors standpoint was the how many fans they had show up to support the home team. They were loud and very vocal towards our bench, most especially to our head coach Israel Collazo. With that being said, I know Laredo does not want to be shown up and we can also reciprocate this welcome we got in Hidalgo".

"We encourage all of the Bucks fans to go and support Bucky and the Heat on Friday night," Ruskowski said.

General Admission $5 for adults and all kids 12 and under wearing red come in FREE. VIP tickets are $20. Participants from the Bucks June 20th baseball challenge can redeem their tickets they received in their gift bag at Friday’s game.
